Home-cooked country food. I had a fried pork chop and he had steak fingers. Portions are good! Flavor was good! The fries were salted just right, we like to have salt fries and it was the perfect amount! Definitely enjoyed everything. Telling my friends and family about this place
Updated to 5 stars. The Prime Rib is delish! Enjoyed our lunch here. The fried green beans were crunchy and spicy, fried mushrooms were good. The Cesar salad as a side to the cfs was very generous and tasty. Only complaint was the 20 salmon was bit dry and over cooked. We had friendly service & Pretty tasty food.
Cool look to this restaurant with all the vintage decor. Southwest burger is very good and there's lots of beef on it. Love the fried green beans!
The Feed Mill, what a hidden gem of a place in Gatesville, TX. Wouldn't of known it existed without checking out restaurants (on Google, wife did) in Gatesville, TX. Off the beaten path, it was definitely worth a visit. Amazing food, good prices, excellent service, awesome atmosphere. I ordered the country fried steak, large order, got fried pickles as well. Man was their country fried steak (hands down) one of the best (if not best) I have ever eaten. Mouth watering, tender, tasty, oh so good. Waitress was super friendly and attentive, left a 15.00 dollar tip for her. Awesome, rustic country feel to the decor in the place, ( I grew up loving and drawn to the country living style) loved it. If you are in Gatesville, TX and you're hungry, give The Feed Mill a try, trust me, you will not be disappointed.
We stopped here after it was recommended to us by the nice folks at the county museum a block away. They said there were lots of old antique on the walls. We both ordered steaks, the wife also got a side salad and baked potato while I ordered a steak with sweet potato fries and coleslaw. Our waitress was friendly and efficient; we received our food in no time. Everything was cooked to perfection, the salad was crisp and the coleslaw fresh. It was a great lunch stop along the road.
I tried their highly recommended chicken fried steak. It lived up to its reputation. The accompanying mashed potatoes were made from scratch with the skins included. For the other side, I chose okra, and this was also an excellent choice. Basically, listen to the waitresses; they won't steer you wrong. Since I opted for the large portion of chicken fried steak (2 pieces with plenty of gravy), I did not have room for any of the tempting desserts I passed by in their display case as we were seated. My Dad thoroughly enjoyed his banana pudding.
Your small town diner. Our server was sharp, whitty and just reminded me of a stern but loving mother. (Best way I could describe it) Felt like home. Food was great. Pie was incredible.
My colleagues and I were here for lunch today, and the staff were so wonderful! We had a large party and they were very accommodating. We got seated, ordered our food, and it came fast! I will try and stop in any time I'm in town from now on! And my meal was delicious! Thank you to the two wonderful waitresses that served our table!
